SPENCER: Jose O. Rivera,52, of Spencer, died Saturday, June 10th in UMASS Memorial-Lake Ave Campus, Worcester after a long illness.
He leaves his wife of 23 years, Amy B. (O'Coin) Rivera, his son; Evan J. Rivera of Spencer, his mother; Elsie Rivera, his brothers; Nelson Rivera, Efrain Fernandez, Luis Fernandez, Rubeli Rivera, Rolando Rivera and Reynaldo Rivera, his sister; Jocelyn Diaz Coleman, several nieces and nephews. Jose had many lifelong friends. Derek Bernier and Kenny Ramos were with Jose every step of the way.
Jose worked at Super World Comics in Holden prior to his illness. He was born in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico, the son of Orlando and Elsie (Ramos) Rivera. A big kid at heart, Jose was a man of many talents and hobbies, learning everything from football to fencing and karate. He never understood why Jeopardy wouldn’t let him on the show. Sunday afternoons were solely for the Patriot’s game, and he was to be uninterrupted. Jose loved comics, cosplay, and conventions, but most of all, his family.
