Thomas J. ‘Twig’ Blute, 74 of Tyngsboro, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 7, 2023 at his home after a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of Janet M. (Wray) Blaikie, who whom he shared over fifty years together.
He was born in Cambridge on December 13, 1948 and was a son of the late Henry Blute and the late Rose (Callahan) Blute. He was raised in the Belmont area, where he attended the local schools before relocating to Tewksbury and graduating from Tewksbury Memorial High School with the class of 1966.
Twig began his working career as a truck driver at Lyndon Monroe, where he worked for 12 years before working at the Middlesex Retirement Board in Billerica until his retirement in 2018. He also previously worked as a bartender at the Tewksbury Inn for many years.
Twig enjoyed gambling, playing golf, and was an avid sports fan, especially for the local Boston teams. He was a member of the Elks Lodge in Tewksbury, the US Bunting Club in Lowell, and the Disabled American Veterans in Tewksbury. Above all else, he was a devoted grandfather and cherished time spent with his family.
In addition to his wife, Janet of Tynsgboro, he is survived by his children, including John Blaikie and his wife, Karen, of Hudson, NH, Shellene Blaikie and her husband, Richard Miller, of Hudson, NH, Kelly Blute, andJody Pellerin; his grandchildren including, Emily Blaikie of Northfield, NH, Mason Miller of Saratoga Springs, NY, John Blaikie III of Hudson, NH, Halle Grace Miller of Hudson, NH.
Twig is also survived by his brothers, James William Blute of Lowell, Henry J. Blute of Nashua, NH, William E. Blute of Templeton, Jeffrey Blute and his wife, Patricia of Tewksbury; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Twig was welcomed into heaven by his brother, the late Larry Blute; and his godson, the late Gregory Blute.
On Tuesday, June 13, 2023 all are welcome to attend his calling hours from 4-7 p.m. at Tewksbury Funeral Home, 1 Dewey Street, Tewksbury, 978-851-2061.
