SPRINGFIELD - Paul F. Kennedy, 64, of the Hungry Hill section of Springfield, was Called Safely Home on Thursday, June 8, 2023. He passed into Eternal Life at Mercy Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the care of comfort of his loving family. He was born in Springfield on June 25, 1958, a beloved son of the late Thomas F. Kennedy who was Called Home on January 25, 2005 and Patricia A. (O'Connell) Kennedy who was Called Home on January 3, 2011. He was raised in Springfield, graduated from the former Springfield Technical High School in 1976 and had lived in Chicopee briefly before returning to Springfield. He was employed as a Supervisor at the Chicopee State Park. He was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Springfield. During his leisure time, he enjoyed golfing and cheering on his New England sports teams and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. He was the master of the "Irish Houdini". Above all, he loved spending time with his family and his many friends. He leaves his loving daughter and son in law, Jaime L. Flores and her husband, Luis, of West Springfield; his cherished granddaughter who was the light of his life, Carmen Flores; his two dear sisters, Claire M. Miemec and her husband, Albert, of Springfield, and Kathleen A. Benoit and her husband, Gregg, of Layton, UT; his three dear nephews and two dear nieces, Shannon Carbray and her husband, Matthew, Amanda Miemiec, Christopher Kennedy and his wife, Jennifer, Jason Benoit and his wife, Denise, and Andrew Benoit; and his many dear extended family members and friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his dear brother, Edward J. Kennedy who was Called Home on July 23, 2004. His family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 14, 2023 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107. His Funeral will be held on Thursday, June 15, 2023 beginning at the funeral home at 8:30 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 395 Chestnut Street, Springfield, MA 01104. His Burial will follow the Mass at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 421 Tinkham Road, Springfield, MA 01129.
