Obituary

Mr. Jules J. Larocque, 89, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2023, at Cedar View Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Methuen, MA. He was born in Plessisville, P.Q. Canada the son of the late Alphonse and Maria (Lapointe) Larocque on February 11, 1934. He emigrated to the US at 19 years old to the Merrimack Valley in search of work and got his first job as a weaver in the mills of Lawrence. He delivered bread for Nissan Bakery before finding his career in the Insurance Industry as an Agent for Assumption Mutual Life Insurance out of Moncton, NB, Canada. During his time with Assumption, he was recognized as the top agent in the US multiple times, receiving several awards in recognition for outstanding performance including "Agent of the Year" and “Lifetime Member of the Million Dollar Round Table". He also won many trips giving him the opportunity to travel the world with his wife Marcelle. Even after his retirement from the Insurance Industry, he continued to service and help not only his customers, but his friends and family with a variety of things ranging from licenses & passports to citizenship to jobs and housing. Jules was active in the French-Canadian community, the Knights of Columbus Council 67, The Exchange Club of Lawrence, The Holy Name Society, Affiliate of the Good Shepard Sisters of Quebec, and a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish, St. Theresa Church in Methuen. Mr. Larocque was predeceased by his daughter Mary Angela Larocque, He is survived by his loving wife Marcelle (Demers) Larocque of Methuen, daughters and spouses: Linda Larocque and Debra McKinley of Methuen, Elaine and Joseph Gentile of Freedom, NH; sons and spouses: Dennis and Kathy Larocque of Methuen, David and Barbara Larocque of Merrimack, NH, and Michael Larocque and Kevin Blease of Lawrence, MA. He is survived by one sister: Paula Goudin of Haverhill and one brother and his wife Andre & Rosalie Larocque of Londonderry, NH. He is predeceased by his siblings Charles, Claire Pellerin, Jeanne D'Arc Demers, Theresa Demers, Marguerite Dubois, George, Roland, Ferdinand, Madeleine. Jules had the love of 16 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Friday, June 16, 2023, from 9:00 am to 10:45 am at St. Theresa Church, 22 Plymouth St. Methuen, MA, A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday at 11:00 am, followed by the burial in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Andover.
