PARSONSFIELD- George Edward Hermance, known as Ed, age 72 passed away on June 7, 2023 peacefully at home in Parsonsfield. He was surrounded by his family after a battle with Alzhimer’s and cancer.
Ed was born in Derby, Connecticut on June 24,1950, son of the late Ed and Henny (Weloy) Hermance.
Ed graduated from Seymor High School, Seymour, Connecticut in 1969.
Ed moved to Maine and married the love of his life Gloria (Collomy) in 1975.
He worked many jobs including driving an oil truck for W.B.Tripp in Cornish before starting his career with Dearborn Precision in Fryeburg, Maine in 1981. Ed retired from Dearborns as the production scheduler in December of 2010.
Ed enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He even shot a deer while going through chemotherapy in 2011. He put thousands of miles on his ATVs over the years and made countless trips north to camp.
He spent many years as a member of Saddleback Rod and Gun Club and enjoyed being a Hunter’s Safety Instructor. Ed was also a dedicated Mason as a member of Drummond Lodge and Greenleaf Lodge for over 30 years. In 2000-2001 he was awarded the Arthur Gannett Mason of the year for the 18th Masonic District.
He was preceded by his parents Ed and Henny (Weloy) Hermance, a sister Sandra Matthews, his in-laws Sidney and Helen Collomy, as well as many other extended family members.
Ed is survived by his wife of almost 48 years, Gloria (Collomy), their children Corey, of Baldwin and Laura, of Parsonsfield, and daughter GinnyLynn of New Gloucster. Siblings Linda Loring, Bill, Frank and Patricita Hermance all of Connecticut. Grandchildren Caleb, Joshua, Madelyn, Callyn, Natalie, and Elise and a great grandson Carson and a large extended family.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday June 11th from 1 - 3 PM, concluding with Masonic Honors at 3 PM at the Poitras, Neal & York Funeral Home, 71 Maple St., Cornish.
