In Brockton, John J. Danahey Sr., age 87, passed away at the Brockton Veterans Hospital on June 6, 2023 while surrounded by his loving family. John is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Irene (Brown) Danahey of Norton. He was born in Taunton, the son of the late Thomas & Mary (Fahey) Danahey.
John had been a Norton resident since 1978 and was formerly of Taunton. He was educated at St. Mary’s Elementary School and from Monsignor Coyle High School in Taunton. John served his country honorably during the Vietnam War while in the U. S. Army. He was employed for the U.S. Postal Service until his retirement. John enjoyed reading, traveling, taking walks on the beach, his dogs, and above all cherished his time with family.
John leaves his son John Danahey Jr. and his wife Vickie of Taunton, his grandchildren Ryan and Megan and their mom Maria, and Connor and Kathryn. He also leaves his brother James Danahey of Taunton and his late siblings; Leo, Thomas, Theresa, Mary, Margaret, and Nancy. John also leaves several nieces and nephews and his best friends Manny and Ron.
Funeral from the O’Keefe Wade Funeral Home, 70 Washington St., Taunton, MA 02780 on Thursday, June 15th at 9:30 am. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary’s Church in Norton at 11 am. Relatives and friends are also invited to visiting hours on Wednesday from 5-7 pm. Burial will be at Bourne National Cemetery in Bourne at 1:30 pm. on Thursday.
