Obituary

Douglas J. "Dougie" McNeil II, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life suddenly on Tuesday June 6, 2023 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. He was 36 years of age.

Dougie was born in Malden on February 18, 1987, a son of Virginia M. "Ginny" (Doherty) and the late Douglas J. McNeil. He grew up in Charlestown where he was educated in the Boston Public School system and also attended The Landmark School. Dougie always enjoyed working with his hands throughout his life and he was a very crafted painter and laborer who enjoyed building all kinds of projects and even built his own motorized bikes. He also cherished the special memories that he and his family shared during the good times in his life.

Dougie is the loving son of Virginia M. "Ginny" (Doherty) Doe and her husband Ronnie and the late Douglas J. McNeil. He is the devoted brother of Nicole Forsythe and her husband Gregg, Michael Gomes and the late James Luke McNeil. He is the loving uncle to Ryan Forsythe and Grayson Forsythe. He is the dear Grandson of Peggy Doherty and the late Teddy Doherty, Jane McNeil and Brian McNeil. He is the beloved nephew of Kathy and Anthony Shea and their daughter Stephanie, Teddy Doherty, Maggie and Michael McEvoy, Brianna McNeil, Gary and Sallyann McNeil, Sharleen McNeil, Kaileigh McNeil and the late Billy McNeil. He is the loving cousin of the late Anthony Marc Shea II and Justeen Marie Doherty and is also survived by his many other loving cousins and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Dougie's Funeral on WEDNESDAY, June 14, 2023 at 9 A.M. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by his Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, 55 Warren St. Charlestown at 10 A.M. His burial will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden. His visiting hours will be on TUESDAY, June 13, 2023 from 4 to 7 P.M. in the funeral home.
