PALUBECKAS, Regina, age 100, resident of Canton, MA and previous resident of Northborough, MA, died at home surrounded by her three daughters, Dalia Zikas, Aurelia Palubeckas, and Emily Holland, on June 4, 2023. She was the widow of Jonas Palubeckas.
Regina lived a full life. She loved her family and at her 100th birthday celebration boasted that all those gathered to honor her were there “because of her”. She had a passion for gardening and could be found in the garden, sometimes on her hands and knees, caring for the flowers that she loved so much. Her spiritual life was nourished by watching daily the Catholic Mass, and Holy Rosary on TV. Family members often requested Mociute (MO as she was called) to pray for a special intention, whether it was for a good grade in school or hunting for a job. They were convinced that she had a direct line to God, who always granted her prayers.
Born in Lithuania, in her heart and mind she cherished the years she lived there. She often talked about the beauty of the country and traveled there to visit in her later years. She told of the hardships she faced in leaving the land that she loved during WWII, the transition to a new country, learning a new language, and finding a job. She experienced much during her lifetime, and enjoyed recounting many stories to her grandchildren.
Services for Regina will take place at St. Peter Lithuanian Church, 75 Flaherty Way, South Boston, MA 02127 on Friday, June 9, 2023, beginning with a visitation at 3:00 PM and followed by a 4:00 PM Catholic Mass.
