CHICOPEE – James E. “Jimmy Boy” Russell, Jr., 51, of Chicopee and a former resident of Northampton, was Called Safely Home on Friday, June 2, 2023. He passed into Eternal Life at Heritage Hall South in Agawam surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Northampton on October 5, 1971, the beloved son of the late James E. Russell, Sr. who was Called Home on October 10, 2003 and Patricia A. (Lawler) Russell who was Called Home on August 19, 1999. He was raised in Northampton, graduated from Northampton High School and moved to Chicopee in 1994 where he lived the remainder of his life. In his childhood, he was involved in scouting, earning Eagle Scout. He was last employed at the CVS Pharmacy in Northampton. During his leisure time, he enjoyed reading books and comic books, especially Marvel comics, and cheering on his beloved Boston Red Sox. Above all, he loved spending time with his family and his many friends. He leaves his beloved wife and best friend, Pamela J. (Michon) Russell; his loving father in law and mother in law, Robert A. and Debra A. (Fountain) Mitchell of Chicopee; his “Pépère and Mémère”, Harold and Mildred (Lafromboise) Fountain, of Agawam; his two dear sisters in law, Tiffany G. Michon and her partner, Ryan Spence, of Springfield and Alison Riffenburg and her husband, Shawn, of Chicopee; his two cherished nephews, Rojai Spence and Benjamin Riffenburg; and his many dear aunts, uncles, extended family members and friends. He will also be deeply missed by his beloved feline companion, his cat, Sampson. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his dear sister in law, Natasha Leigh Cantrell who was Called Home on January 21, 2021; and his beloved “grandparents”, William M. Mitchell, Jr. who was Called Home on December 31, 2011 and his wife, Anna (Melaney) Mitchell who was Called Home on May 14, 1998. His Funeral and Burial will be private at Saint Mary Cemetery in Northampton. There are no visiting hours. His funeral arrangements are entrusted to the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
