Hudson, MA
Francis Joseph Ulrich-84, of Hudson, MA, died Monday, June 12, 2006 at his residence after a brief illness.
He was the husband of Yvette (Dupont) Ulrich for fifty two years until her passing in March of 1998.
Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Harry and Mary (Walsh) Ulrich.
Growing up in the sand lots of Philadelphia he developed his love of baseball and later played in the minor league in the Philadelphia area as a pitcher. During this time his talents called attention to many major league scouts. His baseball career was shortened when he served in the U.S. Army Aircorps as an aircraft gunner immediately following the Normandy D-Day invasion. Francis was employed by Data General Corp. as a machine operator until his retirement. Francis had three passions in his life, the New York Yankees, music, especially the music of the Glen Miller Orchestra with which he was a fan club member and the family he cherished and loved dearly.
He is survived by his children; Lisa Ulrich of Hudson, Cynthia Gaudere of Hudson, Nancy Saal of Worcester and William Ulrich of Westminster. He is also survived by his five grandchildren; Eleanor, Philip, and Adlai Saal, Emily and Erica Ulrich. He was the brother of the late Harry Milton Ulrich and leaves behind his cherished cat Ginger.
His funeral will be held from the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, 50 Central Street,
Hudson, MA 01749 Thursday, June 15, 2006 with a funeral mass at 11:00 a.m. in Saint Michaels Church 21 Manning street Hudson MA. Calling hours will be Wednesday, June 14, from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M in the funeral home. Burial will be in Forestvale Cemetery, Hudson.
