Elijah William Sassaman, 16, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Friday, May 26, 2023, at Atrium Health Navicent Medical Center in Macon, Georgia.
Memorial services will be held 2 PM, Saturday, June 3, 2023, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald, Georgia. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the services at the funeral home as well as at the home following the service, 279 Hudson Road.
Elijah was born January 10, 2007, in Portland, Oregon, to Brandon Sassaman and Julie Johnson Sassaman. He was a Sophomore at Fitzgerald High School College & Career Academy. He was in the welding program and had earned his welding certification from Wiregrass College. Elijah was determined to earn his Associates degree before graduating high school. He loved anything with an engine and enjoyed riding motorcycles and side-by-sides. He was proud of his father being a United States Marine. Elijah was a great friend and had a quiet influence on many of his classmates. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and teachers.
He is survived by his father, Brandon Sassaman of Ocala, Florida; mother, Julie Sassaman & James Fisher of Fitzgerald; brothers: Matthew Thomas Sassaman, Gabriel Scott Sassaman, and Alexander Charles Sassaman; step-brothers: James Fisher, Jr. and Noah Fisher; grandparents: Jack Johnson of Fitzgerald, Pamylla Read of Woodland, Washington, Rodney & Barbara Grone of Garden Grove, California, and Nana Fisher of Fitzgerald. He was preceded in death by grandparents, Kenneth Sassaman and Judith Light.
