Theodora Florence Casey "Teddi" of Whitman and Chatham died peacefully at her home in Whitman on Sunday, May 28.
Born May 12, 1929, she was the only child of Florence Bradshaw (Packard) Ryan and Al Packard.
Teddi graduated from Whitman High School with honors in 1947, went on to take several business courses, and worked for the New England Telephone Company for more than 40 years, promoted to be the first female manager in the area.
She married Richard Casey (former Chief of Police for Whitman), and they were happily married for 52 years, until his death in 2004. While residing in Whitman and working full time, Teddi was an active member of the Whitman Police Department’s Police Wives. Upon Teddi’s retirement from the telephone company, and Dick’s retirement from the Police Department, they moved to Chatham, where Teddi became a real estate agent. In 1993 she was honored for being the top producer in her office.
Teddi was a very active member of the Massachusetts Order of The Eastern Star, initiated first into the Pleides/Masona Chapter in Chatham in 1990, and then later joining the Pilgrim Chapter in Whitman. She held the office of Worthy Matron several times and was elected to the Massachusetts Grand Chapter holding the offices of Grand Adah, Deputy Grand Matron, and Deputy Grand Marshall. She and Dick traveled around the state as part of her duties. They also travelled around the country to attend several General Grand Chapters.
Teddi was an active individual, hardworking, dependable, a lover of horses, and a loyal friend, always there to comfort, care, or just to have fun. She is survived by several cousins, notably Linda Archibald, Janie Culbert, Andy Culbert, many friends, notably her lifelong friend, Linda Stafford, her husband Ray Stafford, and by her godchildren Lesley Berger and Andrew Stafford.
Visitation will be held on Saturday June 3 prior to her service from 9:00-10:00 AM. An Eastern Star service will be held Saturday, June 3 at 9:45 AM, followed by a funeral service at 10:00 AM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth St. (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman. Burial will follow in the High Street Cemetery, Whitman.
