BUXTON- James ( Jimmy) Edward Foley ,age 82 , Passed away peacefully at Northern Light Mercy Hospital on May 29,2023 after a courageous battle with health issues.
He was born in Portland Maine on December 23, 1940 to the late Peter Foley and Marjorie Foley ( Shaw).
Jimmy was a Proud Vietnam Veteran and Member of the 101st Airborne and 82nd. He was a recipient of many stripes and medals including a Bronze Star for his Bravery.
Jimmy was a loving Husband , Father , Grandfather , Brother , Uncle and Cousin. Though having a gruff exterior he had a heart of gold and his family always came first.
He so enjoyed riding his Motorcycle , collecting Coins and Baseball memorabilia. He enjoyed watching sports, Donating his time to The Maine military Museum which was very dear to his heart and a passion to him and playing with his dogs.
Those who knew Jimmy knew he was a Brave and Honorable Man. A stoic Soul. He was a small man with a gigantic presence. He could really tell a story and the occasional Dad Joke.
Jimmy is predeceased by sisters Diane Greenlaw ( Foley), Carol Bowden ( Foley) Pauline MacDonald ( Foley) and Gail Bowden ( Foley).
Jimmy is survived By his loving wife Margaret Foley; His Daughter and her Husband Erin Alber and Peter Albert of Madawaska; Grandchildren Sean-Patrick Lizotte, Lucas Lizotte and Olivia Lizotte of Madawaska; Sisters Linda Foley of Portland and Patty Carrigan ( Foley) and her Husband Ed Carrigan of Windham ; Brothers Peter Foley Jr. and His wife Joyce Foley of Scarborough and John Foley Sr. of Portland. Along with Many nieces , nephews, and cousins and of course Sammie and Lizzie his loving puppies.
Visitation will be held on Friday June 2nd from 2 – 3 PM, followed by a 3 PM funeral service at the Chad E. Poitras Cremation and Funeral Service Chapel, 498 Long Plains Road (Rt. 22) in Buxton. The service will conclude with US Army Honors. www.mainefuneral.com
