Daniel Bernard “Rock” Bradley, aged 76, passed away on May 25, 2023 at South Shore Hospital in Weymouth, MA from a two-year battle with Multiple Myeloma. He was born on April 8, 1947 in Quincy, MA. Daniel was husband of 50 years to his beloved Rosanna (Falcetta) Bradley. He is survived by his sons, Michael Bradley and Kevin Bradley, and his wife Meghan. He was the son of the late William “Bill” Bradley and Anna (Smith) Bradley. He is also survived by his siblings: the late William “Bud”, Frank, Bernadette and Brenda. Most importantly, Daniel was cherished by his grandchildren, Zachary, Colton, Belle, Savanna and Marcus. He was especially close to his wife Ro’s brothers and sisters and her late parents viewed him as one of their own.
Daniel was raised on Hancock street in Quincy and attended North Quincy High School where he played football, track and field and wrestled. Upon his graduation from North Quincy High School, Dan volunteered for the United States Army where he served in Vietnam and was later stationed in Korea. He was a heroic soldier who earned a Purple Heart for his services and was honorably discharged. Although Dan served admirably in 1968, he was not the type to seek accolades for anything that he accomplished. He had a quiet demeanor and a practicality about him that caused those who knew him to have the highest level of respect for him. And he always listened first, before he spoke.
Dan raised his family in Hanover where he was involved in coaching youth hockey. Although he never played the sport growing up, he had an innate ability to teach the kids he coached how to play the game and even more importantly, the value of working hard and displaying good sportsmanship. He thoroughly enjoyed watching his children and their friends compete in sports and followed and supported each of their careers from beginning to end.
After retirement, he and Rosanna dedicated their lives to spending time with their grandchildren and nothing made Dan happier than seeing his grandchildren happy and thriving. He was an honest and reserved human being who had a toughness that was able to carry him through any situation. He never uttered a complaint and would quietly support anyone or any causes that came his way. This was never more evident than when he received his cancer diagnosis and chose to enter a trial treatment program saying: “if this treatment may help others survive in the future, then I want to do it”. He was the perfect example of somebody who put the well-being and happiness of others at the forefront and ahead of his own. All the while, never asking or expecting anything in return.
The Bradley family would also like to thank the oncology departments at both Mass General Hospital and South Shore hospital for their unwavering support, collaboration and care for Dan.
