Kind, Caring, Humble and Welcoming. These are just a few of the words that can be used to describe Oscar A. Hernandez SR. These and many other words can only begin to paint the picture of the truly wonderful person he was. Yet true to his genuine persona, Oscar would undoubtedly blush at these terms and shake his head with a smile.
Oscar A. Hernandez SR, 58, of Woonsocket passed peacefully on Wednesday May 24th, 2023 at Our Lady of Fatima Hospital in North Providence. He was the loving lifetime companion of Martha Valle-Navarro.
Born in Guatemala he was a son of the late Ramon Jiron and Julia Hernandez-Jiron. Oscar lived his early years in Guatemala. He arrived to the United States at the age of 13 years old living in Orange County, California. He then moved between Framingham, Massachusetts and Los Angeles, California until residing in Woonsocket, Rhode Island since 2002.
Oscar was employed at Lista International Corporation wearing many hats but enjoyed his time spent in the maintenance department.
Oscar found joy in music and sports. He was passionate about DJing for many functions such as church gatherings and family parties. Some of his favorite artists include Motown and Stevie B. He was an avid Raiders fan and enjoyed playing an occasional game of soccer.
In his spare time Oscar enjoyed spending quality time with his family as well as working on home improvement projects. Always willing to lend a hand to those who needed it.
Oscar will be remembered for the unconditional love he had for his family. He was especially proud of his son Oscar Jr. for his time spent serving our country in the United States Marine Corps.
In addition to his loving companion Martha, Oscar is survived by his son Oscar S. Hernandez, Jr, three step children Maria, Viviana and David, Maria’s children Cole, Damian and Julian, Viviana’s children Delilah and David. As well as siblings and extended family in California and Guatemala.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather to celebrate the life of Oscar on Saturday June 3rd, 2023 at Menard-Lacouture Funeral Home, from 2:00pm-6:00pm. 127 Carrington Ave, Woonsocket, RI 02895.
