James M. "Jimmy" Hingston, a lifelong proud Charlestown Townie, entered into eternal life on Tuesday, May 23, 2023 following a 6 month courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by his loving family at his home in Charlestown. He was 55 years of age.
Jimmy was born in Somerville on January 26, 1968, a son of James E. Hingston and Janice (Blaikie) Hingston. He grew up in Charlestown where he was educated at St. Francis De Sales Parochial School and graduated from Christopher Columbus High School in the North End of Boston in 1986. Jimmy furthered his education and attended North Adams State College. Jimmy was a proud member of the Teamsters Union Local # 25 where he worked as a Stage Handler for over 17 years. Most recently prior to his health declining, he worked for the City of Boston as a Building Manager. He was a member of The Halligan Club in Charlestown. Jimmy was a proud hockey fan of the NHL and was always known to give you any players statistics at any given time. Jimmy was known to many as a practical joker and always enjoyed a good time with family and friends especially at the compound where he was the life of the party. Jimmy loved his family and in particular he cherished the quality moments he shared with his girls.
Jimmy is the beloved husband of 20 years to Andrea F. Gorman-Hingston. He is the devoted and loving father to Alexa Hingston and Michelle Hingston. He is the beloved son of James E. Hingston and Janice (Blaikie) Hingston. He is beloved brother of the late Brian P. Hingston and his surviving wife Tammy. He is the beloved son-in-law of the late Ruthie Gorman. He is the beloved brother-in-law of Ruthanne Brennan and her husband Norman, Kim Sodergren and her husband John and the late Mark Gorman and Michelle Gorman-McCabe and her surviving husband Jocko. Beloved brother-in-law of Michele Lynch Savoia. Jimmy is also survived by his many loving nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Jimmy's Funeral on Thursday, June 1, 2023 at 8:45 A.M. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by his Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, 55 Warren St. Charlestown at 10 A.M. His burial will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden. His visiting hours will be on Wednesday, May 31, 2023 from 3 to 7 P.M. in the funeral home.
