Maria E. Torres, 75, of Worcester died Monday, May 22nd at home surrounded by her loving family. She leaves her two daughters, Vivian Alvarado of Worcester and Madelyn Alvarado of CT; a son, William Alvarado of Worcester; two brothers, Carlos Torres of PA and Rafael Torres, Jr. of Puerto Rico; a sister, Sonia Torres Guzman of Auburn; 10 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Rafael and Eufemia (Figueroa) Torres.
She was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico the daughter of the late Rafael and Eufemia (Figueroa) Torres. Maria has had various jobs throughout her lifetime, but the most important one to her, was being a homemaker and taking care of her family. Being naturally creative, Maria loved to paint, draw, and create all different kinds of crafts. She could be often found buying and scratching scratch tickets at local convenience stores and has even won big a few times. Her favorite thing was spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Her service will be held on Tuesday, May 30th at 12:00 p.m. in O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue. Her calling hours are from 10:00 a.m. until the start of the service in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, 217 Richards Avenue, Paxton.
