Collins R. Rowell, 63, of Ocilla, Georgia, passed away Monday, May 22, 2023, at Coffee Regional Medical Center in Douglas, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Friday, May 26, 2023, at Riverbend Baptist Church in Irwin County, with the Rev. Terron Stonecypher officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the church on Friday.
Collins was born October 4, 1959, in Nuremberg, Germany, to Hilda Keiner Rowell and the late Earnest Lee “Buddy” Rowell, Sr. He was a 1977 graduate of Fitzgerald High School. Following graduation, Collins joined the National Guard and served his country honorably for 13 years on active, full-time duty. He was strong-willed and stubborn at times, but he also had an enormous heart and a wonderful sense of humor. He was generous, loyal, and brave. He was clever and full to the brim with knowledge gained through all his life experiences. Collins enjoyed bird hunting and fishing. He will be remembered for all his heart he shared with his family. He truly loved each of them. When his time came, he carried himself with dignity, strength, and full of love for those who went before him. He will be missed dearly. He was a member of Riverbend Baptist Church.
He is survived by his spouse, Ann Rowell of Ocilla; sons: Jeremy & Rebecca Rowell of Nashville, Chris Gordon & Melissa Stone of San Diego, California, and Michael Gordon, Jr. & Renee of Newberry, Florida; grandchildren: Dallas Gordon, Cole Jenkins, Trey Jenkins, and Sam Jenkins; great-grandchildren: Kinsey Jenkins, Ashton Jenkins, and Denver Jenkins; his mother, Hilda K. Rowell of Enigma; two sisters: Jenny R. Luke & Donnie of Fitzgerald and Christine R. Price & Danny of Alapaha; along with several nieces and nephews. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Earnest Lee Rowell, Jr.
