Charles Wendell Mathias

Charles "Butch" Wendell Mathias, 89, of Chesterfield died May 21, 2023 at Waters of Chesterfield after a brief illness.
Butch was born August 4, 1933 in Marion, Indiana the son of Harry A. and Sophrona (Worth) Mathias.
He served in the United States Army.
He was a machine operator at Delco Remy many years before retiring in 1995. He enjoyed woodworking, golf, archery, travel and gardening.
He is survived by his three children, Teresa "Teri" (Lee) Dixon, Stephen (Barbara) Mathias and April (Terry) Scott; seven grandchildren, Brock (Jamie) Mathias, Randall (Deanna) Dixon, Eric Mathias, Sarah (Derek) Sain, Stephanie (Nick) Mathias, Shannon (James) Mathias and Josie (Shayne) Smith; four great grandchildren, Elliot, Zachary, Brody and Willa; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 64 years, Patricia (Dixon) Mathias; brothers, John, Elester, Calvin, and Gene; two sisters, Maxine and Beverly; and grandson, Brody Mathias.
Graveside services will be at Bronnenberg Cemetery 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 25, 2023.
