Laconia------Paul True Davis 93, of the Taylor Community died Sunday, December 24, 2017 with his loving wife by his side.
Paul was the son of the former New Hampshire Bank Commissioner, Clyde M. and Doris T, Davis. He was born August 29, 1924 in Concord, New Hampshire and attended the local schools beginning in the Walker School and graduating from Concord High School in 1942. During this period he became an unwavering member of the "Wait until next year" Red Sox fan club.
In the fall of 1942 he matriculated at Dartmouth College. In January 1943, he joined the U.S. Navy and served as a Torpedo Man on PT Boat 105 in the South Pacific. After begin discharged from service in November 1945, he returned to Dartmouth where he became a member of Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity and the Sphinx Senior Society. He graduated from the college in 1948 and received a MBA degree from Amos Tuck School of Business Administration in 1949.
in the early 1950's he joined the institute for trend research in Hopkinton, NH. The Institute was a non-profit firm that undertook new ways of analyzing growth, cyclical, seasonal and random economic changes, and forecasting future trends. Its clients included a number of America's leading companies. Paul taught a course "Timing of Executive Action" for mid-summer sessions of the Graduate School for Credit and Financial Management held at Dartmouth College and at Stanford University.
In June of 1959 Paul and his family moved to Menlo Park, California to take a position in the energy economics department of Stanford Research Institute (SRI) which conducted research projects throughout the world. Some of Paul's assignments include on-site projects in Portugal, Spain, Iran, and South Africa.
In early 1973 he took a position as Executive Vice President of Sherman H. Clark Associates which undertook similar type of energy economic research that was conducted at SRI. Paul retired from the business world in 1986.
Paul is survived by his wife of 26 years, Jean Crowley Woodward Davis, his daughter, Jill D. Smith and her husband, Kyle; two grandchildren, Evan T. and Laura A. Bautista and several cousins, nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his first wife of 45 years, Theda stiles Davis in 1990, their son, Thomas S. Davis, in 1982, his brother, Robert E. Davis and sister, Rev. Sally D. Weber.
Paul tried - with more success than less to follow the Golden Rule: "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you."
Paul is gone now but will not be forgotten. Interment will be in the family plot in Skylawn Cemetery, San Mateo County, California overlooking the Pacific Ocean.
