Ronald E. Kilgallon, 76

Ronald E. Kilgallon, age 76, of Mansfield, formerly of Brockton, passed away peacefully, with his loving family by his side on Monday, May 15, 2023 at the Hope Health Hospice Center in Providence. He was the beloved husband of Maureen J. (Hynes) Kilgallon, to whom he was happily wed for nearly fifty-five years.
Born in Boston, MA on January 2, 1947, he was a loving son of the late Michael J. and Mildred M. (Perry) Kilgallon.
Ron grew up in the Brighton neighborhood of Boston and was educated in Brighton Schools. At the age of seventeen, he enlisted in the United States Army during the time of the Vietnam War. He was stationed in Germany and following three years of service was honorably discharged on August 31, 1967 with the rank of SP5 (T) E-5.
Mr. Kilgallon was employed as a tractor trailer driver for thirty years, retiring from Xpedx (formerly Dowd Corporation) in Woburn. Being a handyman, jack of all trades, Ron also worked parttime as a carpet installer. He had made his home in Mansfield for the past seventeen years and was a former thirty-two-year resident of Brockton.
Ron was a communicant of Saint Mary’s Church in Mansfield and while living in Brockton, a parishioner of the former Saint Nicholas Church in Abington. He loved spending time with his family and was ever-so-proud of being a grandfather. Ron enjoyed playing cribbage and socializing with friends at the Mansfield Senior Center. He passed on his love for cribbage, teaching his children and grandchildren it’s value and how to play. Ron will always be remembered for his hard work ethics and a sweet tooth for trips to Foxwoods Casino.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his devoted children: Ronald M. Kilgallon of Foxborough, Charlene M. Kilgallon of Plainville, Jennifer M. Lucier and her husband Chad of Mendon, Richard F. Kilgallon of North Easton and Donna L. Kilgallon of Holbrook. He was the loving Papa of Caitlyn Kilgallon, Ryan Steeves-Kilgallon and Abigail Murphy. He was the dear brother of the late Robert Kilgallon and is also survived by his cherished nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visiting hours on Thursday, May 18th from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main Street, Mansfield.
His funeral will begin on Friday, May 19th at 10:00 A.M. from the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 11:00 A.M. in Saint Mary’s Church, 330 Pratt Street (Route 106) Mansfield.
Burial, accompanied with military honors will take place on Monday, May 22nd at 1:30 P.M. at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne. Those attending are asked to go direct directly to the cemetery and please arrive by 1:15 P.M.
Due to the limitation of flowers allowed at the National Cemetery, Ronald’s family has requested that donations in his memory be made to the Mansfield Senior Center, 255 Hope Street, Mansfield, MA 02048.
