New Bedford –Lidia S. (Soares) Raposo, age 88, of New Bedford, MA passed away on Sunday, May 14, 2023 at home with her loving family by her side. She was the beloved wife of the late Gil Raposo. She was born in St. Michael, Azores to the late Durvalina Mateus and Manuel Soares Da Costa.
Lidia is survived by her children, Eusebio Raposo and his wife Maria O., Durval Raposo and his wife Maria F., Maria Maxey and her late husband Norman, Gil Raposo and his wife Maria O., Antonio Raposo and his partner Rosa Cambra, Alexandrina Lagesse and her husband Michael, Susie Duncan and her late husband Olester, Lidia Theodore and her husband Scott, Duarte Raposo and his wife Lillian, Lucia Raposo and her partner Bryan James, Rosa Flor and her husband Antonio; 27 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren; son-in-law, Rolando Sanchez; siblings, Gabriel Da Costa, Jose Da Costa, Eva Raposo and Durvalina Machado.
She was also the mother of the late Antonio Raposo and Maria Sanchez and sister of the late Maria Machado, Alda Soares, Duarte Da Costa and Natalia Faria.

Lidia’s visiting hours will be held at Perry Funeral Home on Friday, May 19, 2023 from 5:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. Her Funeral will take place on Saturday, beginning in the funeral home at 8:00 A.M. and followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 9:00 A.M. Burial will immediately follow at St. John Cemetery. Following the burial at St. John's cemetery, the family would like to welcome you to join them for lunch at United Fisherman Club, 639 Orchid St. New Bedford, MA 02744.
