Spiro Koulisis, 66, of Shrewsbury died Sunday, May 14th after a 20 year battle with cancer. He is survived by his son, Paul S. Koulisis and his wife, Melissa of Shrewsbury; three daughters, Jacqueline M. Koulisis and her fiancee, Erik Zorge of Shrewsbury, Jessica T. Koulisis of Shrewsbury and Shawna J. Koulisis of Johnston, RI; his mother, Mary Anna (Keratsis) Koulisis of Worcester; a brother Dino Koulisis of Worcester; two sisters, Toula Koulisis of Worcester and Joanne Price of Lillington, NC and eight grandchildren, Caley, Jayson, Julia, Kameron, Jordon Spiro, Olivia, Kaiden and Kaiya.
Spiro was born in Worcester, his father was the late Paul Koulisis. He had worked in the restaurant industry his entire life, and had owned and operated and later managed several restaurants in the greater Worcester area. Spiro was a parishioner of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral. His pastimes included watching New England Sports teams with his son, weekend trips to Nantasket Beach with his brother, Dino, playing his daily number and the Lotto and cooking. He also enjoyed going to Planet Fitness in Shrewsbury and will be missed sorely by those at the gym; and was an accomplished musician who enjoyed playing the drums, guitar and the bouzouki. However, his greatest love was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren who provided him with great joy and much happiness.
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects on Thursday, May 18th from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at O'CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue. His funeral service will be held at the conclusion of calling hours on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice in his memory. A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date.
