Daniel J. Harrington, Jr., 67, of Medford, MA, formerly of Winchester, MA, passed away after a brief illness on May 14, 2023 surrounded by his loving family. He was predeceased by his parents, Daniel and Patricia, and recently a sister, Patricia Harrington.
Danny was raised in Winchester and was a 1974 graduate of Winchester High School where he played on the baseball team. After high school, he went to work at the First National Supermarket in Winchester, beginning his lengthy career as the youngest store manager in the company’s history. His career continued at Purity Supreme and Stop & Shop, and then later at Lowe’s and Home Depot. In his spare time, he was an avid golfer who enjoyed playing golf with his brothers and friends and also enjoyed many trips to Myrtle Beach. He was a huge Boston sports fan, but he loved the Patriots the most. He treasured Sunday dinners and holidays with his large extended family.
He leaves his siblings John Harrington and his wife Christine of Wakefield, NH, Kenny and his wife Lisa of Woburn, MA, Tom and his wife Michelle of Melrose, MA, Anne of Reading, MA, Rick of Winchester, MA, Maureen of Medford, MA, Michael and his partner Sheila Songole of Woburn, MA, Kathleen of Newburyport, MA, Neil of Woburn, MA and Kevin and his wife Tina of Taneytown, MD. He was the beloved uncle of Lindsay, Festus, Jaclyn, Aimee, Vanessa, Olivia, Kenneth, Lucy, Danny, Brendan, Austin, Molly, and Emily. He also leaves behind many grand nieces and nephews, other relatives and lifelong friends.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather for a Visitation at Costello Funeral Home, 177 Washington St., Winchester, on Friday, May 19 from 9:00 AM - 10:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, 155 Washington St., Winchester at 11AM. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in Danny’s memory may be made to Beth Israel Lahey Health at Home, 800 W. Cummings Park, Suite 5000, Woburn, MA 01801.
