SPRINGFIELD – Mihail "Michael" Baladinakis, 76, of Springfield, was Called Safely Home on Friday, May 12, 2023. He passed into Eternal Life at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Voulgaro Chania, Crete, Greece on June 15, 1946, a beloved son of the late Emmanuel and Georgia (Spanoudakis) Baladinakis. He was raised in Crete and immigrated to Springfield in 1971 where he lived the remainder of his life. He served his country in the Greek Army. He was a longtime master carpenter and owned and operated Mike Baladinakis Custom Carpentry. During his leisure time, he loved spending time with his family and his many friends. He leaves his beloved wife and best friend, Androniki "Niki" (Karpouzas) Baladinakis. They were married on February 14, 1971 in Crete and were blessed with over 52 years of happiness together. He also leaves his two loving sons, Emmanuel J. Baladinakis and Edward J. Baladinakis, both of Springfield; his two dear sisters, Marika Kosmas and her husband, George, and Dimitra Chrysakis of Greece; his dear brother in law, John Karpouzas of Greece; his dear sister in law, Argiro Daskalakis of Greece;
and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family members and friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his dear brother, Kostas Baladinakis; and his dear sister, Vasiliki Sgouromalis. His Funeral will be held on Wednesday, May 17, 2023 beginning at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107, (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a Funeral Service at 10 a.m. at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 410 Main Street, Holyoke, MA 01040. His Burial will follow the Funeral Service at Oak Grove Cemetery, 426 Bay Street, Springfield, MA 01109. His family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, May 16, 2023 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. His family requests that memorial donations be made in his memory to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 410 Main Street, Holyoke, MA 01040.
