Josephine J. “Giuseppina” Sanfilippo of Readville passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family and her caregivers on Friday May 12, 2023 at the age of 96.
Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late John Ordile and Pietrina (Caruso) Ordile. She was pre-deceased by her loving husband Salvatore L. “Sam,” brother Anthony Ordile and her grandson baby John A. Sanfilippo.
She is survived by her devoted sons Gerlando “Gerry” Sanfilippo, Retired Det. BPD and Salvatore L. “Sal” Sanfilippo and their respective wives Cheryl and Regina “Gina,” and her loving brother Francis “Frank” Ordile. Cherished Nonna to Danielle, Michael and Leah Sanfilippo. In addition, Josephine leaves her nieces Santina Eldin, Concetta Chianetta and nephew Sal Albanese, grand niece Sherri Eldin and other grand nieces and nephews, her devoted godchild Annmarie Famulari, countless friends including her special girlfriends Nancy Ryan and Marian Barone, and dear friends who became her caregivers Francesca Piccirilli, Concepta McNamara, Lyn Morris and Katerina Posadskova.
Josephine was the past President of the Saint Anthony Ladies Society. She was an avid reader who loved nothing more than gardening, basking in the sun in her beloved back yard, and cooking and sharing the fruits of her labor with anyone who graced her doorstep. She was always one to stop and smell the roses and will live on forever in our hearts.

Visiting hours for Josephine will be held on Tuesday May 16th, from 6-8PM, at the Folsom Funeral Home, 87 Milton St. Dedham. Relatives and friends may gather at the funeral home Wednesday May 17th at 9:30AM and proceed with us to St. Anne’s Church, 82 W. Milton St. Readville, for her funeral MASS at 10:30AM.
Interment to follow in Fairview Cemetery, Boston.
