WEBSTER – Leonard S. Gevry, 66, died unexpectedly Friday, May 12, 2023 in UMass/Harrington at Webster.
He leaves his wife of 43 years, Linda J. (Blair) Gevry; 4 brothers, Lawrence L. Gevry and his wife Diane of Higganum, CT, Louis J. Gevry and his wife Lisa of Dudley, Larry L. Gevry and his partner Christine of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Lloyd R. Gevry and his wife Sue of East Killingly, CT; nephews and nieces, and grand-nephews and grand-nieces.
He was born on December 12, 1956 in Webster, the son of Lawrence and Leona A. (Noga) Gevry and lived in Webster and Dudley all his life. He graduated from Bartlett High School in 1974 and then studied at Quinsigamond Community College.
He served in the United States Army for 2 years.
Mr. Gevry first worked in the finishing department at Cranston Print Works Company for about 10 years. After he was a patrolman in Dudley and then in Webster before retiring in 2017.
Lenny was a communicant of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church where he was a lector, Eucharistic minister and altar server. He was active in the Pro-Life Movement and had gone to Washington, DC for the annual Pro-Life March. He was on the Webster Fire Department for many years and served as an EMT for the Webster Ambulance Squad.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was an accomplished artist and sculptor. He made the beautiful rosary that hangs in Sacred Heart Church.
His funeral will be held Friday, May 19, from the Sitkowski, Malboeuf & Hickey Funeral Home, 340 School Street, with a Mass at 10:00 AM in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 16 East Main Street. The Webster-Dudley Veterans will perform military honors at the church. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 PM Thursday, May 18, in the funeral home.
