Lori J. Seccareccio DeMartin, 66, of Lowell, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, May 6, 2023 surrounded by her loving family after a three year battle with ovarian cancer. She was the wife of Leon J. DeMartin with whom she celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary this past September.
Lori was born in Methuen on December 31, 1956 to Dr. Paul and Marjorie (Stroud) Seccareccio, both of Michigan. In her younger years she lived in Ireland, Arizona and Oklahoma, before relocating back to New England, where she graduated from North Andover High School with the class of 1975. She then continued her education at Regis College, earning her Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts; and later attending the School of Fashion and Design in Boston.
Lori lived in the Belvidere neighborhood of Lowell for the past fifteen years. It didn’t take her long to become ingrained in the community. She loved that the city was a huge supporter of the arts, she enjoyed the festivals and restaurants, and was a member of the board for the New England Quilt Museum. Her entire career was spent in the women’s clothing design field. Her work took her all over the world where she never said no to a new experience or excursion. Art was the center of her world and she will be remembered as a gifted artist in many mediums. Her creativity had no limits. She loved to cook, bake, and share her creations with family and friends. Lori also was an avid gardener, creating her own oasis in her backyard where she could spend time with her husband, kids, and great danes
In addition to her husband, Leon DeMartin of Lowell, and Dr. Paul and Marjorie Seccareccio of Michigan, she is survived by her two beloved children, Kaitlin DeMartin of Cambridge and Jeffrey DeMartin of Lowell. She is also survived by her three siblings, Lisa Seccareccio of Michigan, Ciara Caldwell and her husband, Dr. Richard Caldwell, of Alabama, and Paul Seccareccio Jr. and his wife, Kimberly, of South Carolina; as well as several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests with gratitude that donations in her memory be made to the Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance (ORCA) https://ocrahope.org/
