Ives Vanoni passed peacefully on May 2, 2023, in Ventura at the age of 104. A man of wisdom, generosity, and integrity; he will be greatly missed.
Ives was predeceased by his 4 brothers, 3 sisters, and wife of 74 years Virginia. He is survived by his sister, Irene Reardon, his children; Yvonne (Cleo) Olague, Mike (Chris) Vanoni, and Sharon Baker; 5 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Ives was the grandson of an Italian immigrant and grew up in Ventura, where he helped his father run the family farm. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Science from U.C. Berkeley and his subsequent masters from U.C. Davis. While working as an agricultural advisor in Visalia, he met and married his secretary, Virginia Moore. They were married and had 3 children, 5 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. In 1943 Ives returned to Ventura where he continued to farm until his retirement many years later. Even after his retirement, Ives has remained a pillar of the agricultural community, where he continued to consult for local businesses.
Family and friends are invited to a Funeral Mass at 10:00 am on Monday, May 22 at Sacred Heart Church, 10800 Henderson Rd, Ventura.
