Timothy Patrick Hernon, 61

Timothy Patrick Hernon, age 61, of Mansfield, formerly of Galway, Ireland, passed away unexpectedly, yet peacefully at home on Tuesday, May 9, 2023. He was the beloved husband of Jacqueline M. (Gaffney) Hernon, to whom he was wed on August 31, 1984.
Born in Galway, Ireland on December 6, 1961, he was a loving son of the late Thomas and Johanna (Fortune) Hernon.
Tim grew up in Galway, was educated in Galway Schools and graduated as a bricklayer. In 1984 he moved to the United States, first settling in Norwood and in 1985 relocated to Mansfield, where he made his home for the past thirty-eight years. A commercial contractor, Tim operated several businesses and was the proud owner of Barna Woods Realty Trust in Mansfield.
Tim’s family was the focal point of his life and being a grandfather was his greatest pride and joy. A lifelong soccer enthusiast, Tim played for the Furbo Soccer Club while living in Ireland. He shared his love of the sport, coaching his children’s soccer teams while they were growing up and for several years, managed the travel program for Mansfield Youth Soccer.
A communicant of Saint Mary’s Church in Mansfield, Tim was ever-so-proud of his Irish Heritage and enjoyed listening to Irish Music. Times spent and the wonderful memories created on Cape Cod in Wellfleet was another favorite part of Tim’s life, as well as the special place in his heart for his dog “Bella”.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his devoted children: Dr. Thomas J. Hernon and his wife Brooke of Mansfield, Michelle M. MacEachern and her husband Matthew of Milford and Dr. Shannon M. Farrell and her husband Darren of Mansfield. He was the cherished grandfather of Charlotte, Sadie and Isabelle Hernon, Cole and Callum MacEachern and Aoife Farrell. He was the dear brother of Peter Hernon of Australia, Francis Hernon and his wife Gina of Australia, Oliver Hernon and his wife Rose of Ireland, Thomas Hernon and his wife Lorraine of Ireland, Adrian Hernon and his wife Nora of Ireland and Damien Hernon of Ireland. He is also survived by his loving nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visiting hours on Monday, May 15th from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main Street, Mansfield.
His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 16th at 11:00 A.M. in Saint Mary’s Church, 330 Pratt Street (Route 106) Mansfield. Burial will follow at Saint Mary’s Cemetery in Mansfield.
