SOUTH HADLEY – Andrea J. (Corbin) Whitman, 80, of South Hadley, was Called Safely Home on Sunday, May 7, 2023. She passed into Eternal Life at home surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Trinidad on February 2, 1943, a beloved daughter of the late Clifford B. and Avice J. (Hazel) Corbin. When she was nine years old, she immigrated to the United States where she was raised in Brooklyn, New York, moved to Brattleboro, Vermont in 1977 and later moved to South Hadley in 2016 where she lived the remainder of her life. She was a hairdresser and owner of Whitman’s Hair Design and an instructor and owner of Whitman’s Academy of Hair Design, both in Brattleboro, VT. She was a longtime member of the Inter Coiffure Internationale. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family and many friends. She was predeceased by her beloved husband and best friend, David L. Whitman. She leaves her two loving and devoted sons, Brent D. Boram of Brattleboro, VT and Derek L. Whitman and his wife, Marcie, of South Hadley; her cherished grandson, Devin Whitman; her five step children, Cindy Pazos, Marguerite Cusson, Candy Whitman, Cheryl Whitman and David Whitman, Jr.; and her many cherished step grandchildren and step great grandchildren. Her funeral services and burial will be private. There are no visiting hours.
