Giuseppe Ricci, age 92, of Medford, passed away peacefully Friday, May 5th, at the Massachusetts General Hospital. He was the son of the late Nicola and Filomena (DiBartolomeo) Ricci.
Giuseppe was born and raised in Filetto, Chieti, Italy. In 1956, at the age of 25, he came to the United States and lived in Everett. He became a diesel engineer for the Amtrak train company, working hard to repair and inspect the fleet of train engines. He was a family man, and was truly devoted to his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He built a beautiful home in Medford for his family and settled there. He worked up until the present day to be able to provide for them, working on small projects, and repairing small engines; lawnmowers, scooters, anything with an engine, he could fix. In his spare time, you could often find him with his great-grandchildren, passing down his talents of mechanics and engineering. Above all else, he enjoyed spending time with his family. Whether it was at an event dressed in a sharp outfit, or at a family meal, he was happy to be there.
Giuseppe was the devoted husband for 72 years to Maria (Tracanna) Ricci. He was the loving father of Liliana Rochon of Medford, and Renaldo Ricci and his wife Donna of Andover. He was the loving grandfather of Stephanie Rochon and her husband Dominic Cogliano of Medford, Joseph Ricci and his wife Kelly of Andover, Janel Trivelas and her husband Peter of Nantucket, Jenna Colongelo and her husband Adam of Bedford, and Ronald Ricci of Andover. He was the loving great grandfather of Isabella, Gianluca, Valentino, Joesph, Isabella, Charlotte, Harrison, Willa, Elenor, Alexander; Sarah, Autumn, and Anthony.
Giuseppe’s funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, on Thursday, May 11th at 9 AM, followed by a funeral Mass celebrated in Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant Street, Malden, at 10 AM. Services will conclude with entombment at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett. Visiting hours will be held Wednesday, May 10th from 4 to 8 PM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
