Gene (Aloise) Spatola passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 6th at the Bear Hill Nursing Center. She was 100 years old. Born and raised in Boston’s North End, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Josephine (Mancuso) Aloise.
A Medford resident for most of her life, Gene worked many years as a stitcher in the clothing and textile business. She was a positive and energetic woman who loved her family. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. With family as the primary love of her life, she enjoyed anything which brought her family together, especially cooking delicious meals. She also enjoyed reading and embraced computers, which opened up a world of access to reading material, the ability to keep in contact with distant relatives and friends and to enjoy music.
The beloved wife of the late Dominic Spatola who passed away in 2020 and with whom she shared 77 years of loving marriage, she was a devoted mother to John Spatola and his wife Karen of Medford and David Spatola and his partner Joseph Mihelarakis of San Francisco. She was a loving grandmother to Mark Spatola and Brian Spatola and his wife Barbara. Gene was a dear sister to Rosalie Martocchio, and the late Mary Juffre, Peter Aloise, Elena Scimone, and John Aloise. She also leaves many dear nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit with Gene’s family at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford on Wednesday morning, May 10th from 10 to 11. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.
