STANTON, John F. “Jack”, age 88, of Walpole, a retired jeweler, passed away peacefully after a short period of declining health on Thursday, May 4, 2023.
He was the beloved husband of Bernadette C. (Casby) Stanton, with whom he would have celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary in September. Devoted father of David and his wife Cheryl, and loving Papa of Colin Stanton, all of Walpole. Brother of the late Richard Stanton and his wife Helen of Tewksbury. Also, survived by his sister in laws, Theresa Casby McCarthy and Noreen Casby, both of Dedham along with many loving nieces and nephews.
Born in Boston on April 12, 1935, he was the son of the late Anthony Stanton and the late Ellen W. (Durkin) Stanton.
Jack was raised in Dorchester. He attended St. Peter’s Parochial Grammar School and graduated from Cathedral High School. He later attended Boston State, where he received his associate’s degree in Business.
He began his career in sales, and was fortunate to have owned and operated a highly successful jewelry business, Bernie Mendelsohn Jewelers, until his retirement in 2005. Jack enjoyed each and every day meeting new and loyal customers but most importantly, the friendships he built along the way.
During his retirement years, he was fortunate to spend time on Cape Cod with friends and family and was a die hard Boston Bruins and New England Patriots fan. However, his most important and enjoyable retirement role was spending time with his grandson, Colin.
