Paul F. Carey, Jr., 80, of Millbury passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 3, 2023. He is survived by his wife of fifty-four years, Mary Ann (Nozzolillo) Carey; his son Kevin Paul Carey, Sr. and his wife Renee; his grandson, Kevin Paul Carey, Jr. and his wife Courtney; his sister Anne Peixoto of Saunderstown, RI and longtime “family friend” Nancy Gervais. He also leaves his nephew Jonathan Nozzolillo; niece Leah McCormick and her husband Chris and niece Kelly Golden and her husband Michael of Reading, MA. He is predeceased by his brother John Carey; brother-in-law, Joseph A. Nozzolillo; mother-in-law, Madeline Nozzolillo;father-in-law, Joseph Nozzolillo; nephews, Joseph R. Nozzolillo and Brian Byrne. He was born in Worcester a son of Paul F. Carey, Sr. and Margaret (Mahoney) Carey.
Paul graduated from North High School and later graduated from the College of the Holy Cross, Class of 1964. He was a member of the Alumni Association and recently became a Purple Knight after 50 years of membership. He retired from the City of Worcester after more than thirty years of service. He was a member of the Massachusetts Army Reserves receiving an honorable discharge in 1970. Paul was a real sports enthusiast, especially football. He enjoyed going to breakfast with the “Romeos” (Retired Old Men Eating Out) a group formed by the men in Brierly Pond Village in Millbury, where he lived for the past twenty years. He loved his family and friends and enjoyed gatherings and celebrations. Paul loved sharing jokes with everyone. Even his doctors looked forward to their package of jokes on his visits.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday, May 7, 2023 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm in HENRY-DIRSA FUNERAL HOME, 33 Ward St. His funeral will be held on Monday, May 8, 2023 from HENRY DIRSA FUNERAL HOME with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM in St. Johns Church, 40 Temple Street. Burial will follow in Saint John Cemetery, 260 Cambridge St. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of his nephew Joseph R.
