Paul Daniel Hartnett

Loving family of PAUL DANIEL HARTNETT of Cohasset, is saddened to announce his passing on Sunday, April 30, 2023, at the age of 72 years.
Predeceased by his parents, Mary and Joseph Hartnett, Paul Daniel will be lovingly remembered by his siblings Mary Ann Browne (John), Ruth Guarino (Joseph) Joseph Hartnett (Marika); nephews Paul, Jack, Philip, Joseph, Joseph, and Brian; nieces Antonina and Mari; and grandnieces Rhiannon, Mimi, Zoe, and Chiara.
Paul was born on Easter Sunday, March 25th, 1951, at Faulkner Hospital in West Roxbury, the youngest of four. A survivor of a traumatic birth that deprived him of oxygen, Paul lived with developmental challenges and special needs; yet navigated through adversity, sharing his keen interest in learning new skills that would lead to his independence in the wider world, a perspective that his mother inspired.
Paul attended Holy Trinity Elementary, during which time his loving mother, Mary, died. Paul went on to graduate from high school at Boston Commerce High School, obtained a driver’s license, and eventually became a police cadet. Paul enjoyed living with roommates in Quincy, worked part time as a janitor, and enjoyed taking college music courses at Quincy Junior College.
Paul was known for his kind and gentle disposition, for his philosophical discussions, his winsome smile, and brilliant blue and green eyes. He loved music, particularly the group Celtic Woman, whom he saw in concert at the Wang Theatre, and he loved singing, “Danny Boy.” At 6 foot 8, he was known as “Little Paul” and “Pauly,” known to be loving and caring by his family and seen by his siblings as the best of them.
In the past two years he suffered a severe decline in health and remained true to form, remembering to thank each person who visited, with a promised prayer for them. He will be dearly missed by his family, and his friends at Quincy House, and by those who were fortunate to have known him.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, May 9, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel of St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church, 2078 Centre St. West Roxbury, MA. Paul will be laid to rest at St. Joseph Cemetery.
