Deborah Sylvia, 66, of New Bedford, died peacefully on Monday, May 1, 2023.
Born in Waterbury, CT, step-daughter of James Youngblood and daughter of the late Richard Sylvia and Elizabeth Youngblood, she lived in New Bedford all of her life.
Deborah worked at 3rd District Court as a probation officer for many years. She loved helping others and started Debbie's food pantry while also spearheading a homeless shelter at Shachah Praise and Worship Center.
Survivors include her step-father; her daughter, Sarelle Sylvia-Costa of Mansfield; her sisters Raechele Youngblood of New Bedford and Michelle Youngblood of Belchertown; her grandchild Tayvin Costa; and many other relatives.
Deborah's visitation will be held on Monday, May 8th, from 4-8 PM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. Her Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, May 9th, at 10 AM in the Shachah Praise and Worship Center, 95 Willow St., New Bedford. All are invited to meet directly at church. Burial in St. John's Cemetery will follow.
