Michael Joseph McDonald, 57, a longtime resident of Chelsea and Lowell, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Lowell on Wednesday, April 26.
He was born in Stoneham on October 31, 1965, he was a son of the late Wesley Williams and the late Beverly A. (Callahan) Williams. He was educated in Chelsea and was raised both in Chelsea and in Lowell. He worked as a laborer for several years locally but was most proud of his work volunteering anywhere that needed help. He volunteered at every shelter or transitional living facility in the Merrimack Valley over the course of his life, even on Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Michael was an avid sports fan and loved the Red Sox, Patriots and Bruins especially. He was a great pool player and an expert chess player. He was the type of person who would light up a room as soon as he walked into it. He was the jokester of his family and his sense of humor was legendary. Time spent with his family meant the world to him and was so proud of his nieces and nephews and their various achievements. More than anything, despite sometimes tragic circumstances, Michael lived a life that made an impact and the world is a better place for having him in it, that is his legacy.
He is survived by his siblings, Theresa Figueroa of Lynn, Skip Reddington and his wife, Jeany, of Peabody, Darren McDonald and his partner, Heather Jaynes, both of Lowell, Sharleene Flores and her husband, Hiram, of Chelsea, many nieces and nephews including, Daniel, Christopher, Skip, Douglas, Johnneene, Jordanna, Shawneesey, Aisha, Jaya, Katelyn, Raymond, Timothy and Crystal. He is also survived by Steven and Marshall Murphy, his brother in law Deogarcia Figueroa and his great nephew, Julian, who he adored.
Besides his parents, he was also predeceased by his siblings, the late Kim Reddington, Joseph Reddington, and Brenda Martinez. He was also predeceased by his grandparents the late Francis Callahan and the late Theresa Callahan.
