Joan (Schlarb) Redding, 96, of Anderson (longtime resident of Pendleton) passed away on April 27, 2023 at Primrose following an extended illness.
She was born on May 13, 1926 in Vaughnsville, Ohio to Dr. H.C. and Olive (Emerson) Schlarb. She graduated from Wiley High School in Terre Haute, IN. She was a homemaker.
She was a devout Christian, is a member of Parker City Fellowship Church, and played both the piano and organ for churches in the Pendleton and Anderson area over the years..
She is survived by her two children, Janet (husband, Dr. Ken) Shaver of Anderson and Steve (wife, Ann) Redding of Durango, Colorado; four grandchildren, Kimberly Redding (husband, Charles) Nusbaum of Denver, Colorado and Jill Redding (husband, Saleem Douly) of Boulder, Colorado; Rachel Shaver of Key Largo, Florida and Dr. Samuel (wife, Diane) Shaver of Pendleton; 5 great-grandchildren, Alexander Nusbaum, Olivia Nusbaum, and Christopher Douly all of Colorado; Isaac Shaver and Wesley Shaver both of Pendleton; sisters-in-law, Virginia Crull Schlarb of Texas and Carol Redding of Florida; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. H.C. and Olive Schlarb; her husband of 63 years, William Richard "Bill" Redding who passed away in 2009; and two siblings, Jim Schlarb and Jane Maddock.
Graveside service will be at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, May 8, 2023 at Grovelawn Cemetery in Pendleton with Pastor Samuel Jackson officiating.
Memorial contributions may be given to Community Hospital Foundation in Anderson.
