Karen E. Simpkins passed away on Friday, April 28, 2023, at St. Anne’s Hospital in Fall River, MA. She was 67.
Karen was born in Schenectady, NY to James J Simpkins and Edith M (Taylor) Simpkins, who proceeded her in death. She leaves behind three sisters, Melodie Simpkins of Pattersonville, NY, Theresa Simpkins of Amsterdam, NY, and Beth (Jason) Richter of Amsterdam, NY, nephew James (Dianne) Simpkins, niece Taylor Donohue, her dear friend, Karen R. Racine, and other assorted relatives and friends.
Karen graduated from SUNY-Delhi in 1982 with an Associate’s degree in animal husbandry. She had a certificate for Food Services and loved cooking new dishes. She worked for AT&T as a relay operator, connecting the deaf with callers who had no TDD capabilities. She also served on their emergency response team during natural disasters because of her proficiency in ASL. She loved all animals but especially dogs. She enjoyed going camping and to concerts and she loved reading sci fi and romances. She LOVED anything to do with the animated film Frozen! She will be missed greatly.
There will be no service or visitation. Karen opted for cremation. In lieu of flowers, Karen would ask for contributions to any animal shelter, the American Cancer Society, or the National Kidney Foundation.
