Obituary

WORCESTER–Vonnie V. Johnson, Jr., 75, of 81 Chatham Street, died peacefully on Thursday, June 8th in Saint Vincent Hospital surrounded by his family and close friends. He was married in 1965 to Alice M. (Ford) Johnson until her death in 1992. He is survived by a son, V. Van Johnson III and his wife Yolanda D. of East Longmeadow, a daughter, Vanessa D. Johnson of Worcester, four grandchildren, five great grandchildren, many nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by three sisters.

He was born in Birmingham, Alabama, the son of Vonnie V. and Annie (Gaines) Johnson. He attended area grade schools and took courses at the local community colleges. For several years he worked as a printer repairman for Chase Paper Company, later starting his own printer repair service, serving area printing businesses. Mr. Johnson was an Army veteran of the Korean War.

A funeral is Tuesday, June 13th with a service at Noon in O'CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery. A calling hour will be held from 11:00 AM until the time of the funeral. The family wishes to thank the entire staff of Sunbridge Spring Valley Nursing Home for all of their care and support.
