Patricia A. Harrington of Melrose, MA, formerly of Winchester, MA and Oceanside, CA, passed away after a lengthy period fighting Alzheimer’s disease. Trisha was a 1977 graduate of Winchester High and was a gifted athlete and co-captained her high school softball team. She enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1978 and was stationed all over, from the Great Lakes to Wales to South Carolina - where she served on the USS Canopus. She served full-time in the Navy for 6 years and the Naval Reserves for several years. Trisha continued to play softball competitively in the Navy. After serving in the Navy, Trisha lived most of her adult life in California where she loved being outdoors walking, running, and swimming in the ocean. She had many friends there. She competed in a number of endurance races including an Ironman competition in Hawaii. Trisha was also a lover of her English Springer Spaniels that she showed at dog shows at various locations across the country. She moved back home in 2014 as her disease progressed and was able to enjoy more time with her family.
She was predeceased by her parents, Daniel and Patricia. She leaves her siblings Daniel of Medford, MA, John and his wife Christine of Wakefield, NH, Kenny and his wife Lisa of Woburn, MA, Tom and his wife Michelle of Melrose, MA, Anne of Reading, MA, Rick of Winchester, MA, Maureen of Medford, MA, Michael and his partner Sheila Songole of Woburn, MA, Kathleen of Newburyport, MA, Neil of Woburn, MA and Kevin and his wife Tina of Taneytown, MD. She was the beloved aunt of Lindsay, Festus, Jaclyn, Aimee, Vanessa, Olivia, Kenneth, Lucy, Danny, Brendan, Austin, Molly, and Emily. She also leaves behind many grand nieces and nephews, other relatives and lifelong friends.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather for a Visitation at Costello Funeral Home, 177 Washington St., Winchester, on Wednesday, May 3 from 9:00 AM - 10:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, 155 Washington St., Winchester at 11AM. Interment will be private.
