Martin J. “Marty” Whalen, III age 63 of Brockton, died unexpectedly April 19, 2023 in Boston. He was born in Boston and raised in Brockton, the son of Martin J. Whalen, Jr. of Brockton and the late Margaret (McCarthy) Whalen.
Marty was a 1978 graduate of Brockton High School and also attended Stonehill College. Marty served as a customer service concierge for 25 years beginning with Amtrak and later Keolis Commuter Services.
Marty loved playing softball and the lottery, was a big fan of all Boston sports and most importantly enjoyed spending time with his family. He will be remembered as a fun-loving man with a huge heart who loved making people laugh.
Marty was the brother of Debra A. Batson and her husband Joseph of Randolph and Kathleen M. Logue and her husband Robert of Hartwick, NY and uncle of Joanne Batson, Denise Batson, and Faith Logue and great uncle of Lauren Conlon and Declyn Levins.
Marty will also be lovingly remembered by his aunts and uncles – Helen Audette of Quincy, Florence Higgins of Barnstable, Rita O’Connell of Weymouth, Linda Calderbank of Tewksbury, John Whalen of Quincy and William Whalen of Savannah, GA. Marty is also survived by many cousins.
Visiting hours will be held at the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (rte. 123) Brockton on Thursday, May 4, 2023, from 5-8pm. The procession will gather at the funeral home on Friday at 8:45am for a funeral Mass at St. Mary’s Parish, 211 N. Main St, Randolph at 10:00am.
