Katherine “Kay” Varvaky, age 90, was welcomed home by her Savior in the early morning hours of April 8, 2023. Daughter of the late Angelo Adams Varvaky and Angela (Lolos) Varvaky, her smile and infectious laughter brightened any room. A graduate of Chicopee High School, known for her love of dancing and singing, she attended business school and worked at a variety of places throughout her career: Sears Roebuck, FL. Roberts, Bernie’s Deli, Highland Novelty Co, and Vanguard Human Services, in addition to owning and operating The Pyramid Luncheonette with her late husband, Harry P. Malandrinos. The two were married on May 13, 1956, and enjoyed close to 64 years together. A strong woman of faith, Kay was a former member of Sts Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church, the former Bible Speaks in Springfield, and the former Living Gate Community Church in Granby. She was predeceased by her dear sister, Virginia Thompson. Kay is survived by her sons, Paul H. Malandrinos and his wife Cheryl of Wilbraham and Stephen A. Malandrinos and his wife Shelagh of Marlborough. Also left to cherish her memory are her beloved grandchildren: John Duval Jr., Katherine Malandrinos, Sarah Malandrinos, and Harry Malandrinos along with cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. A celebration of life for Harry and Kay will take place at Grise Funeral Home in Chicopee on May 13, 2023, with visitation from 12:00 – 1:00 pm followed by a service led by two of Kay’s dear friends, Pastors Duncan Washburn and Steven Sousa.
