Dennis Lee Maxwell of Leominster MA, age 71, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family and friends on Saturday April 22, 2023.
Dennis was born in Wood County, OH to Harley Eugene and Doris Jean (Riley) Maxwell. He graduated from Gibsonburg High School in 1969. Dennis leaves behind his loving wife of 19 years Valerie; children Eric (Melendy) Maxwell of New Ipswich NH; Angela (Guy) Howell of Elwood, IN; Greg (Carie) Maxwell of Altoona, PA; and Denise Pace of Cleveland, OH, as well as 10 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. He also leaves behind brothers Mark (Kim) Maxwell of Clyde, OH, and Doug (Stacy) Maxwell of Fort Wayne, IN along with many nieces' nephews and close friends.
He was predeceased by his parents and his sister Sharon “Sis” Stahl.
Dennis was a United States Army Veteran serving from 1971 to 1983 in the Army Security Agency, (ASA), where he received the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medals, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Expert Grenade Badge and Expert Rifle Badge. He spent two tours in Sinop, Turkey, as well as multiple other locations, retiring at the rank of SFC.
Dennis loved to travel. He especially enjoyed his motorcycle trip with Val through the Blue Ridge Mountains, their trips to Canada and Florida, and their frequent weekend excursions all over New England. He also loved the ocean, especially Good Harbor Beach in Gloucester; history museums; sci-fi and history channels; going to the movies; climbing Mount Monadnock and skiing. He was frustrated that due to health issues in recent years he was unable to enjoy a lot of the activities he loved.
Dennis retired from Dover Saddlery as an IT Manager in Littleton, MA. He made many friends there and continued working with them as a consultant until his death.
Dennis will be cremated and laid to rest on Monday May 8, 2023 at 10:00 am with full military honors. aside his brothers in arms at Massachusetts Veteran Memorial Cemetery, located at 111 Glenallen Street, Winchendon MA,
