Obituary

Worcester: Joseph D. LaVenture, 82, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 25, 2023 at home surrounded by his loving family and friends. He leaves his wife Judy (Ellis) LaVenture; sons Joseph Giordano of WA, Christian LaVenture and his wife Heather of Worcester, Joseph LaVenture and his wife Bekki of Barre, and Daryl LaVenture and Jen Kelley of Oxford; 7 grandchildren- Dominic, Stephanie, Adrianna, Dustin, Allyson, Carissa, and Patrick; a brother Paul LaVenture and his wife Carol of Shrewsbury; a sister Candy and her husband Gerald Collins of Auburn; a brother-in-law Randy Ellis of Florida; and several nieces and nephews and great nephew and nieces. He was predeceased by a grandson Christian Jeffery, CJ.

Joe was born in Hartford, Ct, son of the late Henri and Mary (Foster) LaVenture. He graduated from Auburn High School and proudly served in the US Air Force. He worked in the construction industry for many years. He built houses on Mount Saint Helen’s, worked in Montana during the summer months and worked in Florida during the winter months. He returned to Massachusetts where he has resided for the last 40 years continuing to work in the construction trade until retiring at 72. He was a member of the Auburn Elks and the English Social Club. Joe enjoyed drawing, he was an avid reader, he enjoyed playing cards, particularly change poker, he loved being at the beach. He also loved spending time with friends and family. He was a very talented singer and formed a duo with his long time friend Francis Stevenson calling themselves the "New Righteous Brothers".

Calling hours will be held on Sunday, April 30, 2023 from 2-5 p.m. in Nordgren Memorial Chapel 300 Lincoln St. Worcester. A funeral will be held on Monday, May 1, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be held at a later date.
