Obituary

It is with heavy hearts and much sadness that we (Mom, Jan Jones, and Son Harley Riva) tell you that our son and Dad, Peter, lost his battle to survive the aftereffects of a devastating coma brought on by a cardiac arrest on June 2, 2022. He fought to breathe on his own for 10 months to the day (confounding all medical knowledge) and at 8:30 AM on Palm Sunday he simply stopped breathing. He was a patient at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston.

Peter was most aptly named as he had a part of him that was the quintessential Peter Pan, the boy who never grew up. If you ask his grandchildren who was Peter? The answer was “Our buddy who loved fairs , amusement parks, carnivals, fishing and boating and Disney… the bigger and more thrilling the ride, the better. Just like they did. His love for fun and life was extraordinary. They were amazed that he enrolled in an online college program at his age. He would help anybody who was family or friend or someone who would be a friend.

Peter grew up in Stoughton attended Stoughton Schools and graduated from Boston College's Center for Alternative Education. He then went on to study plumbing, first as an apprentice in Vermont, and then in Massachusetts where he held masters licenses in most New England states. Peter and his son Harley founded Green Energy Concepts LLC, an innovative plumbing and HVAC corporation that services commercial and residential needs in New England.

He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Peter leaves an extended family who loved him dearly.

A celebration of life will be held in the near future.
