Johnson, Charles F., (Chuck) 85 of Centerville, formerly of Roslindale, West Roxbury and Walpole passed away peacefully on April 21, 2023 surrounded by his family after a struggle with various health issues. Loving husband of Marilyn A. (Coffey) for 66 years; father to Richard C. Johnson, of Centerville; Cheryl M. Johnson, of Centerville; Ronald F. Johnson (deceased); Robert J. Johnson of Framingham, Christine A. Semler of Walpole, and Cynthia L. Doyle of Walpole; Papa for 11 grandchildren and one great grandson. He was the only son of Margaret Harnedy and Eric Johnson.
Chuck attended Boston Technical High school and Wentworth Institute.
Chuck was an A.R. Machinist by trade for over 50 years working for various companies in Boston, Brookline, and Watertown. He consistently worked two jobs and began a mid-life career with the MBTA, Boston. He retired from the MBTA Green Line, Local 589.
He was an avid sports fan, following his beloved Boston Celtics for decades. In later years, he was a ‘fair-weather’ Red Sox fan. He enjoyed competing in the annual NCAA basketball tournament pool with friends. He was a great neighbor, friend, and work-worker. In his retirement years, he made birdhouses for friends and family.
Visiting hours at William J. Gormley Funeral Home, 2055 Centre Street, West Roxbury on Thursday, April 27th between 9am – 11am followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Theresa of Avila Church at 11:30am. Relatives and friends are invited. Interment at St. Joseph Cemetery, West Roxbury.
Chuck will be sorely missed.
