Born September 16, 1944, Mrs. Stripling was the daughter of the late Morris Braxton Hobby and Marguerite Smith Reagan. She was preceded in death by her husband Larry Stripling; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Ted and Shirley Stripling, Rita and Jim Edenfield and Jackie Stripling. She was a graduate of ABAC and Valdosta State University where she earned a Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education.
She was a vibrant, energetic woman with a keen sense of humor and believed in always doing the right thing. She spoke her mind without fear of consequence and loved with all her heart. She loved all children. She loved her family and she was always up for an adventure with her friends.
God was first in her life and she would gladly tell you so. She LOVED her church and was the Adult Sunday school teacher for many years among her other endeavors.
Her grandchildren were her obsession and she was a positive, happy, exciting part of their lives. She treasured her job as a pre-K teacher and her pre-K teacher friends. She always looked forward to her Friday night dinners out with Gloria and Diane. She loved the "Blue House" (Northside Cafe) and the wonderful people there who treated her like family. Growing roses, “working in the yards” and cooking for her family were some of her most enjoyed talents. Some would say her Sunday dinner spreads were legendary!
Mrs. Stripling is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, John and Heather Stripling of Tifton; two daughters and sons-in-law, Starling and Robby Thornsberry of Eatonton and Anna and Cole Christie of Macon; one brother, Marvin Braxton Hobby of Macon; two granddaughters, Emmy Grinstead and Maggie Thornsberry; a grandson, John Austin Stripling: a sister-in-law, Janice Moore; and brother-in-law, Randy Stripling.
The family would like to thank Legacy Village and their wonderful staff who cared for her during her stay and also thank Regency Southern Care Hospice nurses for the amazing attention and care they gave her. Our gratitude also goes to all who have prayed, visited and cared for her during this time and throughout her life.
