Ronald L. “Red” Michaud, 92, of Salem, passed peacefully at home of natural causes with his family by his side on Thursday, April 20, 2023. He was the loving husband of the late Dorothy L. (Holmes) Michaud with whom he shared 63 years of marriage.
Born in Manchester, NH and raised in Salem, MA he was the son of the late Leo A. and Laurette (Plourde) Michaud. A Korean Veteran, he served with the US Army in Panama as a baker. Following his tour of duty, he was appointed to the Salem Police Reserves on February 2, 1957 while working full time for Sylvania Electric at the Salem Loring Ave. plant. On August 4, 1968, he was appointed full time as a patrolman with the Salem Police. Red retired on December 28, 1992. Red was devoted to his family. He loved gardening, golf and also loved to play pool. He belonged to several social clubs in the area.
Red is survived by his four children, Ronald L. Michaud and his wife Dale C. of Medway, Paul L. Michaud of Effingham, NH, Toni L. Michaud of Marblehead and Dianne L. Kinnon and husband Christopher of Salem and his sisters, Pauline A. Stevens and Priscilla Dalton both of Salem. He also leaves his grandchildren, Lenore, Kimberly, Charles, Paul Jr., Nicholas, Lynne, Jonathan, Skye and Ruby, ten great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his granddaughter, Samantha Gariepy.
Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours on Monday, April 24, 2023 at the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St. [Route 114 / 1-A] Salem from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. The Funeral Service, in the funeral home, will be on Tuesday, April 25th at 12:00 noon, followed by burial in Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem.
